Foundation and Key Stage 1
At the Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson you can explore Language and Literacy through Play. Suitable for foundation and key stage 1.
These practical sessions are based around a choice of 5 differently themed play tables that incorporate hands-on workshops, stories, songs, competitions and crafts.
A typical session includes:
- A making activity
- Story telling
- Dressing-up
- Tour of the tunnels
- Playtime with the play table
- Numeracy exercise
- Treasure hunt with edible treasure
These activities can be undertaken in any combination appropriate to the age, ability and confidence of the group.
Themes to choose from are:
- Pirates
- Vikings
- Knights
- Wild West
Information
- Each booking is for a half day (finish at 12.00pm) or whole day (finish at 2.00pm). Groups usually arrive at 10am though this can be negotiated at the time of booking. The cost is £2.00 per pupil.
- There can be up to 4 sessions throughout the day, each lasting between 30 – 60 minutes depending on the age and ability of the pupils.
- Sessions are suitable for groups of 30 and any group larger than 30 will be split into smaller groups and will work their way around every session.
- We have enjoyed receiving groups of up-to 140 pupils in one day.
